BB8-Inspired Robot

Unique spherical design for motion

A robot inspired by the BB-8 droid in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It uses a unique spherical design to roll around, instead of external single-axis wheels typically found on robots. Like its movie counterpart, our robot features a self-balancing head that remains upright while the main sphere is in motion. The motion of the robot is controlled via smartphone.

This robot was created as a group project for ME102B (Mechatronics) course at UC Berkeley. I aided in ideation, overall design, final assembly, and creating the final presentation/website.
